Google isn't just a software company. The Hardware Operations team is responsible for monitoring the state-of-the-art physical infrastructure behind Google's powerful search technology. As a Hardware Operations Manager, you will manage a team of Data Center Technicians. You will oversee the quality installation of server hardware and components and take charge of complicated installations/troubleshooting. Your team will install, configure, test, troubleshoot and maintain hardware (like servers and its components) and server software (like Google's Linux cluster). They will also take on the configuration of more complex components such as networks, routers, hubs, bridges, switches and networking protocols. They may lead small project teams on larger installations and develop project contingency plans. In this role, you will lead a team of Data Center Technicians who perform quality installations of server and network hardware and their components, and maintain and troubleshoot any tests while modeling teamwork with a positive impact to site culture. You will also manage day-to-day operations and guide the team through the installation, configuration, testing, troubleshooting and decommissioning of our servers. In a similar fashion, you will also oversee the deployment of network components of the data center, lead teams on installations and develop project contingency plans. You will be responsible for resolving IT application-related incidents, service requests, and problems in a timely and efficient manner that aligns with business requirements. You will employ appropriate application maintenance, support, and incident management processes to investigate and resolve issues while coordinating with cross-functional teams to handle complex application and system problems. Additionally, you will design and maintain expertise in application processes and systems, supervise alerts related to application and system procedures, and provide proactive services to ensure system stability and performance.
