Agoda is hiring a Lead DevOps Engineer (IC5) for its Data department in Bangkok, Thailand, with relocation provided. The role defines the vision, architecture, and multi-year technical roadmap for DevOps, automation, and platform engineering across hybrid multi-cloud and on-premises infrastructure, partnering with engineering directors, principal architects, and QA leads.
Responsibilities include leading SRE and GitOps adoption, designing CI/CD and automation frameworks, resolving high-severity incidents in distributed data pipelines, mentoring engineers, and evaluating emerging platform technologies. Candidates need advanced software engineering skills, deep distributed systems expertise, and proven leadership in large-scale infrastructure initiatives.
Architect, scale, and lead the technical vision for hybrid infrastructure orchestration and automation across multi-cloud and on-premises environments
Spearhead departmental adoption of DevOps, SRE, and GitOps methodologies to accelerate release velocity
Establish architectural standards and lead design reviews for large-scale automation frameworks, CI/CD platforms, and core infrastructure services
Define and execute the strategic technical roadmap for DevOps and developer productivity
Diagnose and resolve systemic high-severity incidents, performance bottlenecks, and architectural trade-offs within complex distributed data pipelines
Mentor senior and mid-level engineers and cultivate a culture of engineering excellence
Advanced software engineering mastery in one or more core languages (e.g., Golang, Python, Java)
Deep foundation in distributed systems, network fundamentals, storage engine architecture, and high-concurrency systems design
Subject matter expertise in containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, custom operators)
Hands-on experience implementing enterprise Service Mesh and Service Discovery solutions (e.g., Istio, Linkerd, Consul, Envoy)
Deep expertise in SRE principles, continuous delivery patterns, Infrastructure as Code, and GitOps methodologies (e.g., ArgoCD, Flux)
Deep expertise in architecting, scaling, and operating enterprise-grade relational and non-relational database infrastructure (e.g., PostgreSQL, MSSQL)
Proven track record of architecting multi-region, high-throughput distributed systems in mission-critical production environments
Extensive background in Infrastructure as Code and configuration management frameworks (Terraform, OpenTofu, Ansible, Pulumi)
Expertise in full-stack observability and SRE tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Datadog, ELK/OpenSearch)
Experience with major cloud providers (GCP, AWS, Azure) and FinOps for cloud cost management
