About the position

The Senior Counsel, Data Privacy will serve as a key legal partner guiding Agoda's global privacy strategy. The role involves collaborating with global Product, Marketing, Tech, and Customer Experience teams to handle sophisticated, multi-jurisdictional privacy and AI challenges. The position requires acting as an embedded partner to convert complex data protection laws into pragmatic solutions that accelerate growth and enhance consumer trust. The role is Bangkok-based and open to international candidates with relocation support.

Responsibilities

Partner proactively with Product and Tech teams from concept to launch to conduct privacy impact assessments and translate regulations into practical product requirements

Provide practical privacy counsel to marketing teams across conventional and cutting-edge marketing strategies

Heavily involved in the contractual negotiation and drafting of privacy provisions, data protection-related agreements and templates

Contribute to regulatory change management for new and amended data protection laws

Work closely with the Privacy Program team to facilitate and manage key aspects of the privacy program, audits, and reporting obligations

Lead privacy legal advisory on the deployment of generative AI and machine learning models

Provide general privacy support for data subject rights enquiries, authority demand requests, and escalations

Requirements

Law degree from a top law school with excellent academic credentials

Deep practical knowledge of major international privacy laws including GDPR, CCPA, PDPA, PIPA, APPI, DPDPA, and PIPL

Excellent drafting, negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills

Demonstrated experience in building trust, forging collaboration, and influencing cross-functional partners

Strong strategic and commercial risk calibration skills

Nice to have

A data privacy qualification, CIPP or equivalent

Legally qualified in Singapore, England, or another common law jurisdiction

Experience working in a tech company or with technology-driven products
