The Field Service Engineer delivers service for analytical and scientific instruments used by customers in research, industrial, and healthcare settings. Duties include installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing complex equipment, supporting customer needs, training customers on equipment operation, documenting service activities, and preparing detailed reports.
The role requires an advanced degree with no prior experience, or a bachelor's degree plus two years of hands-on technical experience. Preferred study areas include electronics, engineering, physics, and chemistry. The posting also requires component-level troubleshooting skills, customer service and communication ability, technical documentation and schematic interpretation, safety and quality compliance, and travel within the assigned territory.
Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair complex analytical and scientific instruments
Respond to customer needs with short notice
Train and support customers on equipment operation
Document service activities and prepare detailed reports
Meet customer satisfaction goals
Advanced degree, or bachelor's degree plus 2 years of hands-on technical experience installing, troubleshooting, and repairing complex analytical instruments
Strong electronics and mechanical troubleshooting skills with ability to diagnose issues down to component level
Excellent written and verbal customer service and communication skills
Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and schematics
Valid driver's license and ability to travel up to 50-75% within assigned territory
Preferred fields of study in electronics, engineering, physics, chemistry, or a related technical field
Additional relevant certifications
Experience with ultra-high vacuum systems and high voltage equipment
Proficiency in additional languages
