Finance Director - Sony Music Entertainment

The Finance Director serves as the strategic business partner to the Country General Manager and regional leadership, driving sustainable growth and value creation. The role leads financial planning and analysis, business partnering, commercial deal evaluation, and financial reporting while ensuring strong financial controls and operational excellence. Responsibilities include leading budgeting and forecasting, supporting strategic initiatives and artist investments, and overseeing accounting, treasury, tax, and compliance. The position requires a strategic leader to manage the country finance function, drive process improvements, and ensure adherence to IFRS and local regulatory requirements.

Partner with Country General Manager and cross-functional teams to evaluate business opportunities and strategic initiatives.

Act as a trusted finance business partner providing commercial and financial insights for decision-making.

Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes for the country.

Deliver insightful management reporting, financial analysis, and performance scorecards.

Provide financial leadership for artist signings, licensing agreements, and commercial transactions.

Evaluate deal economics, profitability, and financial risks associated with contracts.

Drive budgeting, forecasting, cost management, and financial planning in accordance with global processes.

Ensure accurate revenue, cost, and cash flow forecasting while monitoring performance against targets.

Lead the country finance function, overseeing accounting, treasury, payroll, and close activities.

Ensure accurate preparation of financial statements in accordance with IFRS and local statutory requirements.

Drive operational excellence, finance process improvements, and automation initiatives.

Maintain effective governance frameworks, finance policies, and internal controls.

Ensure compliance with corporate policies, IFRS, local statutory requirements, and tax regulations.

Manage statutory audits and maintain relationships with external auditors and tax advisors.

Oversee corporate income tax, GST/VAT, withholding tax, and transfer pricing obligations.

Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and financial risks while safeguarding company assets.

Drive cost control initiatives and manage operating expenses and headcount budgets.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business, or a related discipline; an MBA in Finance or Accounting is an advantage.

Professional accounting qualification such as CPA, CA, ACCA, or equivalent preferred.

Solid experience within a medium-sized to large international organisation, partnering closely with regional finance teams.

Proven ability to act as a strategic finance business partner within a matrix organisation.

Demonstrated track record of combining strong financial and commercial acumen to identify business risks and opportunities.

Strong expertise in financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling, and business case development.

Proven ability to lead finance operations, strengthen governance and internal controls, and drive continuous improvement.

Effective leader with experience developing high-performing teams and building trusted relationships with business leaders.

Strong strategic, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate financial insights into actionable recommendations.

Fluent in both English and Thai.

Experience in the media, entertainment, consumer, or other fast-paced industries is an advantage.
