About the position

You will join Agoda Services Co. Ltd. in Bangkok as part of a rapidly growing global tax advisory team. This role focuses on managing indirect tax matters, including VAT, sales tax, and GST, with a primary emphasis on strategic partnerships and compliance across various jurisdictions. You will lead end-to-end projects from scoping and budgeting to execution and implementation, working closely with cross-functional teams including Product, Commercial, and Legal.

This position requires navigating a dynamic, project-driven environment where business models and regulations evolve quickly. You will interact with senior leadership, international offices, and external advisors to ensure tax compliance while balancing business objectives. The role demands proactive problem-solving and the ability to identify new areas where tax support is needed as the organization scales.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the indirect tax position and interpret business models to identify risks and opportunities
  • Analyze tax implications for new programs, products, and partnerships and drive practical implementation in internal systems
  • Research global indirect tax developments and execute plans to ensure compliance with new regulations
  • Evaluate contracts from an Indirect Tax Advisory perspective
  • Manage and oversee indirect tax projects to ensure timely and compliant service or country launches
  • Influence cross-functional stakeholders to ensure scalable and tax-compliant solutions
  • Support team members with reconciliation of revenue, purchase, output VAT/GST, and input VAT/GST
  • Coordinate with external advisors on tax issues and ensure accurate, timely reporting and payments
  • Contribute to the long-term vision of the tax team

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Tax Economics/Law, Accounting, Finance, or a related business field
  • Minimum of 8 years of indirect tax experience in a Big 4 firm, top law firm, or major in-house role
  • Solid technical knowledge of global indirect taxes, specifically VAT/GST
  • Proven ability to independently lead medium to high-complexity projects with global impact
  • Strong English verbal and written communication skills to explain complex tax issues to senior leadership
  • Experience with indirect tax setup in ERP systems, such as Oracle
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management skills

Nice to have

  • Graduate degree in taxation
  • Previous experience in APAC, EMEA, or US regions
  • Experience in the e-commerce or travel industry
  • Self-motivated with a results-oriented mindset
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills for interacting with all levels of cross-functional teams
  • Ability to adapt communication style to different stakeholders while being confident and assertive
