Data Center Technician, Global Server Operations

The Hardware Operations team manages the physical infrastructure that powers Google's search technology. As an Operations Technician, you will install, configure, test, and maintain server hardware and Linux clusters. You will also configure complex networking components such as routers, switches, and bridges. This role involves leading small project teams for larger installations and developing contingency plans. You will work with cutting-edge infrastructure, performing manual tasks like rack installation and movement.

The Technical Infrastructure team builds the architecture that keeps Google's products running. You will deploy new data center infrastructure across teams and ensure the security and integrity of data. The role requires diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment issues while maintaining high security standards. You will perform preventative maintenance and end-of-life disassembly of equipment. This position is essential for keeping Google's networks up and running efficiently.

• Deploy and operate new data center infrastructure across teams
• Report issues and follow data center procedures to troubleshoot and diagnose equipment or infrastructure problems
• Maintain the security and integrity of data and track media for non-standard data security issues
• Disassemble end-of-life equipment through part replacement or maintenance
• Repair, fix, and perform preventative maintenance on servers, machines, and infrastructure

• Experience with assembly of mechanical or electrical systems or performing component-level repairs on technical equipment
• Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems, computer hardware, and server hardware
• Ability to lift and move 50lb (23kg) of equipment and exert physical effort over extended periods, including frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and lifting
• Ability to work non-standard hours, including weekends, night shifts, holidays, and shift-based schedules
• Ability to travel to other working locations up to 15% of the time as needed
