Staff Software Engineer - Back End: Fast track 1-Day Program (20th November) (Bangkok Based, Relocation Provided) - Careers at Agoda

Agoda is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for its Platform team to develop mission-critical systems serving millions of users daily. The role owns the full product lifecycle, including requirements, technology selection, coding standards, agile development, testing, CI/CD, and monitoring, while designing platforms and data pipelines and improving system performance.

Candidates should have at least eight years of experience with performance-critical production applications using Scala, Java, Kotlin, or comparable modern languages. The role requires strong RDBMS knowledge, technical leadership, architectural decision-making, advanced CI/CD and testing experience, and good English communication. Knowledge of NoSQL, Kafka or other queueing systems, and Play framework is preferred. The position is based in Bangkok, Thailand, with relocation provided.

Own the full product lifecycle, from business requirements and technology selection through testing, CI/CD, and monitoring

Design, develop, and maintain platforms and data pipelines

Build stable, scalable, and highly performant systems

Mentor team members and contribute to company-wide technical direction

Collaborate with cross-functional teams on product and technology goals

8+ years developing performance-critical applications in production using Scala, Java, Kotlin, or relevant modern programming languages

Strong RDBMS knowledge, including SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, or similar systems

Ability to direct significant company-wide projects and set technical vision

Strong English language skills

Deep involvement in architectural decisions, team standards, CI/CD pipelines, and testing strategies
