Merchandise Manager - Seafood

This Merchandise Manager - Seafood role focuses on supplier management and product development within the Fresh Food sector. The position involves identifying and developing new seafood products through market research and coordinating with internal teams to ensure products meet quality and pricing benchmarks. The role also requires managing supplier relationships, ensuring contract compliance, and monitoring product performance to drive sales and profit targets.

Identifies suppliers for product co-development

Maintains good relationships with reliable suppliers

Ensures compliance with supplier agreements and written contracts

Visits suppliers and producers

Conducts market research for Fresh Food Product development

Coordinates with Director, Sr. Buyer and Buyers on shelf-products

Monitors product performance and identifies causes of shortfall

Works with Marketing team for store launch activities and Makro Mail Programs

Feeds back market and competition information to the line manager

Provides necessary information and documents to stores

Makes regular store visits to detect operational problems and follow-up on product quality

Bachelor degree in Business Management, Marketing, Economics or related field

At least 2 years of managerial experience in commercial sourcing or buying operations for retail or wholesale

Effective Negotiation and Communication skills

Strong capability to deal with different parties and levels

Result-oriented, resourceful, attention to detail, and analytical skills

High flexibility regarding time and travel
