The Flight Data Specialist processes raw flight data into engineering units using aviation technical documentation. Responsibilities include performing readouts from Flight Data Recorders (FDR) and Cockpit Voice Recorders (CVR), developing Logical Frame Layout (LFL) documents, and supporting customers with Flight Data Monitoring program setup. The role requires validating configuration work and analyzing recorded data to identify issues. Secondary tasks involve reverse-engineering FDR files, reviewing abnormal data, and responding to ad-hoc requests. The position demands working with binary encoded data, understanding ARINC standards, and collaborating with software development teams to fix system bugs.

Perform FDR, CVR, and DLR readouts using the Express Readout tool

Develop new Logical Frame Layout (LFL) documents

Support customers during the configuration and setup of their Flight Data Monitoring program

Version control of LFLs and releasing updated versions to the system

Assist staff in processing and converting FDR data in different formats

Understanding of binary encoded data and ability to work with data at the lowest levels

Appreciation of large matrix mathematics

Appreciation of ARINC standards 573/717/767

Knowledge of Data Acquisition Units and Data Recorders (DFDAU/ FDR/ QAR)

Effective communication skills and attention to detail
